Spring Upgrades {2016} :: Alaina Ann

For many years, I have tucked away a little money each month to use toward something special for myself. Guilty pleasures, a new dress, splurge at the grocery store, zero degree sleeping bag… the list is all over the place and ranges from single dollar treats to more expensive spends.

In addition to my monthly “something special” cash, this year I decided to streamline larger purchases {for myself and my companies} by doing quarterly, seasonal upgrades.

My spring upgrades coincided with the road trip I am currently on. A few items for comfort, one for storage and, last but not least, tea.

Pelican Case {Alaina Ann Photography purchase}

After my 65 day road trip last fall, I promised myself a better solution for my camera gear on upcoming trips. My backpack was too overloaded, impractical and offered little protection in weather. Plus, I tend to only pull out one camera body and one lens for most days and stick them in my hiking backpack.

In came this Pelican Case. Waterproof. Ample storage for all the gear needed on a long trip. Easy to switch out gear and perfect for storing unused items for the day. It is HEAVY, but my muscles are ready :)

UGG Ansley Slippers

My purple UGGs make cameos in many of my photographs. They are over two years old, wearing down, but still have a little life left to live. I decided to make them my travel slippers for the next year and keep the new teal UGGs at home for daily indoor use.

La Sportiva Hiking Boots

My original La Sportiva hiking boots were ready to retire at the end of 2015. Nearly 10 years and many, many miles later, I was ready to part ways. This is my absolute favorite brand for hiking boots. Each time a new pair arrives, I’m able to toss on hiking socks, slip them on and hit the trail with little break-in time required.

Republic of Tea Travel Tins

How fun are these six pack travel tea tins from Republic of Tea?! Easily one of my new favorite tea items. Their website allows you to create your own three pack. Perfect for sampling new tea or buying favorites to take on the road. I used this handy tool for both and ordered 15 tins.

Do you set aside spending money for yourself? If so, how often do you dip into the funds for a much deserved treat/upgrade?

As always, this is not an advertisement or paid endorsement for any of the products, companies or brands noted. Each was paid for with hard earned money and are items I truly love and use :)
