Acadia National Park is one of my favorite places to explore on the eastern side of the United States. I frequently wish my home was a bit closer, for weekend adventures. If a piece of property ever resides in my name, on this side of the country, it will likely be in Maine.

Top Five Hikes + Places to Explore

  • Bar Island - for a few hours surrounding low tide each day, you are able to walk across a sandbar to explore Bar Island. This is a must each time I visit.

  • Great Head Trail - enjoy hiking through an evergreen forest and along seaside cliffs. The trail is 1.5 miles in length.

  • Jesup and Hemlock Loop - a beautiful and easy 1.5 mile hike through the Great Meadow.

  • Jordan Pond Path - enjoy a close view of Bubbles while walking along the 3.2 mile rocky shoreline.

  • Park Loop Road - a 27 mile scenic stretch of road through the park. Each mile is absolutely stunning. Sections of the road close from December to mid April.
