Blackwater Falls State Park is located in Davis, West Virginia. The five story waterfall is beautiful. There's a lodge, cabins and restaurant open year-round for hiking, skiing and fishing, depending on the season.

  • Cross country skiing is perfect for a winter visit.

  • There's a quarter mile sledding hill.

  • Several overlooks offer beautiful views of the Blackwater River, Blackwater Falls and surrounding area.

I visited the park during a quiet fall day. My main focus was photographing Blackwater Falls from the various wooden overlook decks. There are quite a few steps to climb after viewing the falls. The extra leg workout is well worth the view.
