Back in September, I had the privilege of participating in the 23rd Annual Fall Photo Train ride on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. I had a wonderful time, enjoying the train ride on a beautiful fall day and taking in the new experience of photographing trains.

During the train ride, we made multiple stops within the wilderness of the San Juan National Forest. We were dropped off and able to set up nearby to photograph the train as it backed down the tracks and then came cruising by our drop off location.

I enjoyed the Sunday train from Coach and had the opportunity to meet many train enthusiast photographers along the way. There were several individuals who have participated in the Fall Photo Train ride every year for the last 23 years!

I highly recommend the experience and opportunity to other photographers looking to enjoy a beautiful fall day in southwest Colorado, mixed with unique opportunities to photograph one of the most picturesque railroads in the United States.
