Fire Wave Textures
Nearly five months had passed since my last hike in the desert. And I was craving sand covered boots!
While in Las Vegas for work, I made my way north to Valley of Fire State Park for a day of hiking and exploring. The colors, textures and views in this park were spectacular.
Since my visit was during late morning hours, the light was relatively harsh for landscape photographs. Focused on hiking and drinking loads of water, I trekked to the Fire Wave. A relatively short hike with a great deal of exposure to the sun. Still well worth the effort with a few liters of water and large hat!
The textures on the rocks beneath my feet during the end of the trail were striking. This photograph was captured standing on the trail, looking down.
I always love unique hikes and surroundings. This state park delivered both!
