Lower Antelope Canyon
The Lower Antelope Canyon in Page, Arizona has been on my travel bucket list for many years. While planning my road trip from Arizona to Maryland, Page was the first stop. This small town is nestled between countless stunning areas worth exploring. Between Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell and the slot canyons, I found myself squeezing in as much as possible over the course of a few days.
The Lower Antelope Canyon is only accessible through a guide service. At the time of my visit, the company did not take reservations, offering tours and photographer passes on a first-come, first-serve basis. The photographer's pass allowed me two full hours in the slot canyon on a self guided tour.
Spending time alone in the Lower Antelope Canyon was truly amazing. I often found myself running my fingers along the walls because I had trouble believing they were real. The dynamic color of the sandstone depending on the amount and direction of light was indescribable.

Ken's Tours - Ken's Tours is the exclusive guide service for the Lower Antelope Canyon. They are open seven days a week, weather permitting. Hours vary, depending on the season. They have a standard group tour rate as well as a photographer's rate. To purchase the photographer's pass, you must have a tripod and a medium or large format SLR camera. I recommend checking their website for current rates, hours and tours available.
