Photograph Story | Narrow Passageway

Exploring the Lower Antelope Canyon in Page, Arizona was an unforgettable experience. I hope to make my way back to this slot canyon many more times in the future.

Some areas of the slot canyon require a bit more of a squeeze than others. Having a tripod with a mounted camera makes a few of these narrow spaces more comical and challenging to manage.

Naturally, I ran into other photographers taking advantage of their two hour time period in the canyon. Walking from one spot to another, trying to find an open view while chasing light. There were many close encounters and wiggles by strangers. I think this adds to the experience, plus it leads to a bit of laughter.

When I arrived at this narrow passageway, with steps going deeper into the canyon, I laughed out loud. Looks pretty small, doesn't it? Admittedly, there was a bit more space once I began to make my way through the opening.

I laughed the entire time I walked down the steps, bumping into the sides of the canyon walls, trying to keep my camera and tripod in control, without taking a little tumble.

Friends and family always get a kick out of this photo, imagining how they would react know it’s the only way out of the slot canyon.
