Rising Sun

Photograph Story | Rising Sun

Watching the first rays of sunshine appear over the top of a mountain is magical. Although this view was distantly visible from my bedroom in Arizona, watching from the hill facing the Rincon Mountains provided a wider view.

My alarm rang around 3:30 am this particular morning. A wake-up call for an airport drop-off in Tucson. As I made my way back to Vail, contemplating a few more hours of sleep, I decided to park on the hill and wait for sunrise.

After 40 minutes or so, the sky behind the mountains started to turn pale blue followed by yellow and a deep orange. At last, the sun crested the mountain and I captured this photograph. The bright sun, first beams of light and orange sky make this a favorite sunrise experience.

Saying I miss watching the sun pop up from behind the Rincon Mountains, while still snuggled in bed, is an understatement.
