Pouring rain. Countless puddles. And little me running around Salem Maritime National Historic Site was one memorable spring afternoon. Since little was seen between raindrops, here's my top five list for next time.

Top Five Hikes + Places to Explore

  • Custom House - the last custom house still in Salem.

  • Derby Wharf - the longest of three wharves in Salem Harbor.

  • Friendship of Salem - partially shown above, this ship is docked at the Derby Wharf.

  • Salem Armory - now the Salem Visitor Center, this is a great starting point for planning your time in the national park unit and seeing exhibits.

  • West India Goods Store - built in 1804, this store sells similar items found there in the early 19th century.
