COVID-19 and my current plan.
Friends have been asking my plans, given the spread of COVID-19 throughout the country. As a person with a compromised immune system due to pre-existing conditions (heart and lungs), I have been following the news and information from the CDC extensively. As well as talking with family members who have professional expertise in virology and epidemiology.
I was already on the road, in Dandy, when cases were starting to be publicly confirmed in the PNW. And well into my trip when confirmations started to arise in the DMV. This road trip started in Maryland.
Right now, I am in Arizona. Camping in state parks. The campsites are well spaced out and the rangers are restricting the number of people who may enter each day. I am spending all my time outside or in Dandy. With two weeks of necessities on hand, allowing me to avoid public spaces for supplies.
I am as concerned about contracting the virus as I am about spreading the virus. And, for now, taking my plan for social distancing in nature one day at a time. If the state parks in Arizona close, or being outside well away from others proves unsafe, I will park Dandy and rent an Airbnb apartment for as long as needed.
I am wishing you good health, as we anticipate a more realistic picture of how far and wide this virus has spread throughout the country, once testing increases.
