Lease signed.
I moved out of Dandy back in March, due to COVID, renting one Airbnb after another. Continually hoping to get back on the road this fall. At the very least, to spend the holidays in Maryland with family. Earlier this month I made the hard but safe decision to stay in Portland until next year. I am, of course, crushed to go well over a year without seeing and hugging my parents, siblings, the babes, and everyone else I love.
I am writing this in my new apartment. Sitting in a cozy new chair. After a restful night of sleep in Dandy’s bed, now living in my bedroom. Feeling settled, after unpacking the limited items I still own.
My original plan to spend a few years on the road may be foiled. But the eight months I managed, before the pandemic arrived, exceeded my expectations. I am excited for future road trips, whatever length they may be, when I feel safe to travel again.
Mostly, I am thankful to be healthy. And truly wish the same for you.
