Travel | Lake Mead National Recreation Area

Lake Mead was an unplanned visit. While in Las Vegas for work, I decided to escape the city for a day trip to see the Hoover Dam. While driving, I passed a sign for the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. As you know, I have a special place in my heart for brown roadside signs.

On my way back to the airport, I had plenty of time to spare and driving through the Lake Mead National Recreation Area was an invited scenic detour. The contrast between the bright blue water and the desert landscape was beautiful. This trip was before my move to Arizona. Desert landscapes were all new experiences.

If you ever find yourself in Las Vegas and have some time to skip town, I highly recommend this scenic area of Nevada.
